Word Words

Shock, shock!  Nah, you have seen your grandmother's face before, or is it another family member that has been around awhile. . . no matter what, the image is beautiful, so look closely and you will see how really beautiful you have become.  Now, if we could find a cure for that barrel shape we inherited then we could really smile.

A truism.

Night owls, how lovely.

Dancing in the rain!!!!   Yeah, the weather is changing, the winds subsiding, the rain is falling!!!!  Fire ...what fire???

When the winds have their way....I hear there are three hurricanes heading for the Island and they are starting up early in the east coast.   It may be a hard season  for all;  let us hope and pray that we do not have another series of storms that wreck havoc and upset so many lives.

Monday, Monday not only the start of a new week but the start of a new month.    Our Jo is having a birthday today...Happy Birthday Jo.

A quiet Sunday spent with daughter Pat.   We rode over to Walmart and walked the aisles, great exercise and they had a few new sweat shirts in, but oh so thin;  whatever happened to quality?    Not at K Mart or Walmart,, but in the catalogs with high prices.   Maybe it is early and the better ones are yet to come.   You get what you pay for is an adage to keep in mind.   Common sense, quality and dignity has gone out of style.    I did find a pillow case, why I didn't pack the ones I had I'll never know.   They are so thin, I am sure they will be dust rags before a year is out.    Nope, I didn't wake up crabby;  just telling you about my shopping trip yesterday.    We didn't spend much time in the store, went over to Pat's house and watched a strange movie from a book written by Alende whose stories are always a bit strange.    Good cast, sad tale but entertaining.  We bought some English Muffins and made our own little pizzas.   If you haven't made them for awhile, do as they are always delicious.    Put a little butter on your English muffin and put it on a pan under the broiler or in your toaster oven;   just for a minute, until it browns a bit;   then take it out and add your thin sliced onions and put it back for a minute; take the tray out and add a slice of tomato and then add your grated or sliced cheese of choice and put it in until the cheese melts....don't forget a little oregano and a pinch of salt.     One is not enough,  two will do, but three...yum.   try them I think you will enjoy them especially on a rainy day.

I did have lunch here at the old homestead before going out in the afternoon.   Vinnie and I had a short reading session as he had VA folks coming to check on him.    He is one of the lucky ones.   So far we are up to chapter twenty-four, seems like each chapter is longer than the last and the story line is very good as we follow Pug Henry and his family and the beginning of World War II;  a lot of history and Vinnie remembers a lot of service details and loves to expound and I am sure would rather talk than listen although he says he is enjoying the read.  Don, who usually stops by to hear a bit and then go about his business, didn't show yesterday.  We are all concerned as when he came into the dining hall yesterday his face showed some distortion and I think he had a small stroke in the night.  He was due to go to the doctor yesterday so we have not heard any news.    The individual stories are hard to listen to and sometimes to just see as the folks are in varied stages of their walk to the Garden Gate.    In this kind of apartment living where folks are from seventy to one hundred, the scene changes on a daily basis.    So, life goes on here at Ridgemont, a little precarious for some,  although they put up a good front and do their best to enjoy one day as it comes.    So do whatever it is you have to do to keep healthy in body and in spirit.  Don't let yourself down.    Take time, each day, to live your seconds out in such a way you will have no regrets when you 'become of age'.    Be sure you pay attention to YOU, then you can pay attention to those you love and like.    One good deed today; make it a good one.    Put some sunshine in your eyes, greet someone with a bear hug and if you decide to dance in the rain, call me I'll join you.    Hugs to all.
