Stone Church

Exquisite!   Delicate!

Jennifer has a lovely maple in her yard in Nevada and it seems to be turning very quickly this year.  thinking winter is coming early and the Almanac predicts only a four letter words for this coming season....cold...snow, especially for the Northwest.

An architectural beauty;  the Vchimura Kanzo Stone Church in Japan.   A favorite place for weddings.

The entrance way into the stone church.

A lovely walkway all stone.   There were dozen more pictures that came in on an attachment.   What a beautiful and wondrous place to visit.    The pictures were done by Electitude pictures.

A new week and it is already half way through August.    The weather continues to play games as it goes from very hot to cold.  The cold feels oh so good and from what the weather prediction is for winter we had better get out the snow shovels and those wooly underpants.    It should be interesting getting around the hills here in Port Orchard.

As for yesterday, a quiet Sunday, a good read with Vinnie and a delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings.   A lot of our folks go off for the weekends so the dining room is almost empty.   There are plenty of left overs to take back and my turkey sandwich was delicious later in the evening.   I started my Sunday off with a breakfast date with Patricia.   She is so good to me and deserves a treat.  We went back to the bowling alley where we had found that wonderful mushroom hamburger thinking all their food was going to be spectacular...well, breakfast isn't one of them.   It was okay........but......we wont go there for breakfast again.  We went over to the big Fred Meyer store and did a little food shopping.    The store is so huge it is hard to find your way around.  I am getting better but still have a long way to go.   At least it is great walking exercise.

The Mystery puzzle is coming along slowly as the frame is off.   It seems fine until you find some pieces that fit in a special area and they will not go in as the frame is off.   Pat rescued me and finally got the frame right...we think.  Time will tell.    At least at the moment the area we had trouble with is falling into place.

The sad news is that early in the evening Jan knocked at my door to ask if she could use my telephone.   She heard a thump from the apartment above her, which is the one across from me.   She came up and checked on my neighbor who lives in the apartment above her and found she had fallen on the floor and had lain there for hours.   She started thumping and that is when Jan thought she had better check.  The noise did not carry across our hallway and the closed doors.

We stayed with our patient who could not be moved.   She was bleeding and convulsing.   The paramedics came and they took her to the hospital .   I could only try to calm her as I had no idea what to do for her. Jan wanted to try and make her more comfortable but it was impossible in such a confined space.   Moving her could hurt her more and neither Jan nor I could pick her up.
The minutes it took for the men to come seemed like hours.   We are waiting to hear how she is doing.  Hopefully she will be fine but this is one of the ladies who should be in assisted living as they have such a terrible time just trying to get around.   They have to be ambulatory to stay in the senior apartment complex and the cost of assisted living is way out of line for most that are here.

This is the second elderly lady to have a fall.   It happens in seconds.   It shows that we are ill prepared for emergencies.   Each of us need a crash course in basic medical help.   The Red Cross used to give a class and most of us ignored it.    One never thinks a time will come when a little knowledge is so much better than none.    I think we all need to take this course, if it is still available, and be prepared for emergencies.  So when the Red Cross advertises its course, sign up and do yourself a favor.  It is a horrible feeling not to be able to help someone in stress and hurting.    Be wise and take time to add a bit of medical knowledge to your brain, you just never know when you might need it.

And, thank God for the men and women who have chosen to 'be there' when there is an emergency;  they really know just what to do.  Hugs to all.
