I Remember!

I remember the old blackboards at school and having to stand up in front of the class to try and solve a math problem.   I also remember having to beat the erasers.   Some years back one of my neighbors who was a teacher told the story of writing on the blackboard "I have a headache" and she had no problem with her students only her reputation for being a 'mean' teacher but one that the students returned to thank for making them pay attention and learn.  The chalk board was found in a one hundred year old Oklahoma school;  two dates November 30,1907 and December 4, 1907.  If only it could impart some tales.

There was a write up on Facebook yesterday about records having some value.  It didn't say which one but I am hoping a friend finds a treasure in the box that I left behind.    There was some fantastic "big band" music from the fifties;  some earlier; Wayne Newton when he was about thirteen;   Bing Crosby, Andy Williams, Paul Whiteman and his orchestra and dozens more.   I only gave them up because my record player on my boxed radio gave out after forty years.   The covers alone must be worth something, like Neil Diamond and "Hot August Nights" .    We lost Edie Gorme , not sure of the spelling, last year and she had a voice that was fantastic.  I saw her on stage, in person, and she sang "If He Walked Into My Life' a real torchy song that only she could sing, and I hummed a lot.

Nature is on the rampage in Tampa, Florida with rain up to some twenty inches now after a full month of rain.  They had three and a half inches in one day.    They are having problems with flooding while the rest of us are praying for a few rain drops.    Mother Nature is fickle.

I have been lighting candles for many years for many reasons and always felt that tiny little light found its way up to Heaven and sent a message that help was needed.     We have intensions,  good intensions, and we find solace in saying a prayer for someone that really needs a hand to hold, a pat on the back , forgiveness and love.    The little votive stays lit for some time and hopefully help is on the way.  Some habits are good habits.  Try stopping in at a church of your choice and light a candle for someone who could use a boost in their life.  Check to be sure the doors are open.  I was surprised , this year, to find the church doors locked.   A statement of hard times which I never experienced before.   The doors were always open, the votive candles at the ready; some changes make one very sad.

So hum a tune and get busy today doing the things you love to do.    Get those chores done early so you have the rest of the day to yourself.    If you have been off on a jaunt and enjoyed it, share your story with others so they can enjoy the experience through you as they may not be able to 'go' on their own.    Some have lost their health or wealth and are confined and unless you have been there, you cannot imagine the loneliness and the feeling of despair that they are experiencing.    Do your good deed or deeds, one is never enough. . . and boost a spirit or two.    Open up those arms and let that someone walk into a bit of love today.    You can spare a little, after all you are one lucky charmer who can light up a room with just a 'bit  of a grin' . . . go for it and see what happens.    Hugs to all.
