MILITARY UNIFORMS

A wonderful photographer by the name of Thom Atkinson spent time to research and discover the uniforms and gear that soldiers have had to use over a lifetime.    From 1066, Battle of Hastings -Saxon Warriors.....to 2014 Royal Engineers in the Province.  History told in the series of battle gear.    Isn't it amazing what we learn on a daily basis.   There are those who love history, especially stories about conquering heroes.   There are those who love a man in uniform . . . not sure about those knights covered from head to toe;   how do you know what is under all that chain mail.  In Ken Follet novels; you read a lot about the early centuries and the wars that were fought.  We are told history has a way of repeating itself;  maybe that is why we have Isis and the current upheaval all around our world be it for purely political reasons,  anger, jealousy, rage, selfishness or whatever crosses the line for one lineage to forsake another.    There have always been wars and they never seem to solve anything for any length of time.    Of course there are all kinds of wars;  sometimes just within a family and that is one of the worst kind.   I cannot say anything good about any or all altercations as I am for harmony and peace.   I can get angry, upset, ready to sound off . . .but . . . I choose to try to understand the opposite viewpoint . . . that is if I do not have a pen in hand.    So in any war, if I win  you lose, if you win I lose and in the end we all lose.  What would it take to have a peaceful world?  We haven't found out yet.

Sesquipedalian: having many syllables: long: using long words. . . what a word that is.  I am throwing it out as I cannot even pronounce it.   I'll write  short words.

So today be a "peacenik";   put a smile in your eyes, keep a calm voice;   pet the dog; feed the cat; forgive stupidity and hug a friend.    That should keep you busy for a little while.    Hugs to all.
